My Experience:

1) After taking this class, in what ways have you improved as an engineer? What
brought about those improvements?

As an engineer, working in groups allows me to gain new perspectives and ideas, learn from others’ experiences, and expand my knowledge and skills. Collaborating with diverse individuals with varying backgrounds and expertise allows us to tackle complex problems and produce innovative solutions. In addition, working in groups helps me develop my communication and leadership skills, as well as my ability to work effectively in a team. It also provides opportunities to build professional relationships and expand my network, which can be valuable for future career opportunities. Overall, working in groups has been a crucial aspect of my growth and evolution as an engineer.

2) What was your biggest accomplishment in the course? Be specific with respect to
your work and the topics you learned in the course.

I remember the first time I encountered Bernoulli’s equation in my fluid mechanics class, I was immediately overwhelmed and struggled to understand its concepts. The equation that related the pressure and velocity of fluids seemed complicated and daunting. However, after numerous attempts and studying with my classmates, I slowly began to grasp the concept.

One day, it finally clicked. I suddenly saw the relationship between the velocity and pressure of fluids and how it related to the forces acting on objects moving through them. I remember being so excited that I could finally understand something that had previously seemed so difficult. It was as if a lightbulb had switched on in my head.

Understanding Bernoulli’s equation opened a whole new world of fluid mechanics to me, and I began to see the connection between what I was learning in class and real-world applications. It also boosted my confidence in my abilities as an engineer and inspired me to continue learning and exploring new concepts.

3) What skills did you master in this course? How are they reflected in the
assignments (HW, tests, etc.) Be specific.

Mastering working in a team setting as an engineer is a vital skill that can lead to success in any project. It involves understanding the importance of communication, collaboration, and cooperation in achieving common goals. As an engineer, I have learned that no one person can do everything, and working in a team can help leverage individual strengths and complement weaknesses. By working in a team, engineers can share their ideas, pool their knowledge and resources, and generate new and innovative solutions to complex problems.

To master working in a team setting, it is essential to develop good communication skills, be open to constructive feedback, respect the opinions and ideas of others, and be willing to compromise. It also involves being proactive, taking initiative, and actively contributing to the team’s success. I have found that the most successful teams are those that establish clear roles and responsibilities, set realistic goals, and have a shared vision of what they want to achieve.

In conclusion, mastering working in a team setting is a critical skill for engineers. It requires a combination of communication, collaboration, cooperation, and individual initiative. By working together effectively, engineers can achieve their objectives more efficiently and effectively than working alone.

4) What do you feel are your strengths and weaknesses? Explain while making
specific references to your work.

As an engineer, I recognize that effective communication is crucial in ensuring the success of any project. My ability to articulate complex ideas and present them in a clear and concise manner has proven to be a strength. I understand the importance of actively listening and collaborating with team members to achieve common goals. However, I acknowledge that I struggle with time management during exams and tend to rush through the questions. I am actively working on this weakness by implementing better time management strategies, such as breaking down each question and allocating a specific time limit for each one. By recognizing my strengths and weaknesses, I can work towards becoming a well-rounded engineer who can effectively communicate ideas and perform well under pressure.

5) How did you think about this course before you took it and how you think about it
now that it is over? How many of your assumptions of understandings changed?
Why?

When I first heard about fluid mechanics, I assumed it would be one of the most challenging subjects I would encounter as an engineering student. The concept of studying the behavior of fluids seemed complicated and daunting, but I knew I couldn’t let that discourage me. With hard work and determination, I was confident that I could understand and excel in this subject.

As I started studying fluid mechanics, I realized that it was not impossible to comprehend. In fact, as I put more effort into understanding the concepts and principles, it became clearer and more fascinating. I found myself enjoying the subject, and the more I learned, the more I wanted to learn.

Of course, there were still challenges. Some of the equations and calculations were difficult to grasp, and I had to put in extra time and effort to understand them. However, I never let these setbacks discourage me. Instead, I sought help from my professors and classmates and practiced consistently until I fully understood the material.

Overall, I have come to appreciate the beauty of fluid mechanics, and I am grateful for the hard work and determination that has allowed me to excel in this subject. It has taught me the valuable lesson that with perseverance and dedication, even the most challenging subjects can be mastered.
