With the United States being a technology dependent country, there are of course a lot of risks involved with using the technology. We’ve seen that the U.S. has become a huge target for cyber attacks because of our use of technology. A lot of our industries have some sort of connection to technology so naturally, people would want to hack into these systems or inject some sort of malicious code to harm these systems. These are some of the risks involved with having technology intertwined with a lot of our industries. Sometimes these attacks are state-funded attackers, lone attackers, amongst others. However, there are ever growing risks with the cybersecurity risks in this country. According to experts, there seem to be more attackers that are evolving faster than our defenses. There are other countries who also have to deal with some of these things as well. One country that we can compare to the U.S. that has similar issues with cybersecurity risks is China. China is #1 in cyber defense with the U.S. at #4 behind the Netherlands and France. China, like the United States, uses technology in their industries and infrastructure but has better cyber defenses to defend against attacks that may come against their networks. The same as the U.S. China also has to deal with attacks from other state-funded attackers and people trying to interfere with their infrastructure. There are of course some things that are different between the two countries whether it be different defenses, or different types of networks, the one thing that’s the same between the two is the cybersecurity risks associated with both countries. They both have a lot of technology integrated with a lot of infrastructure that helps run their respective countries. Having these systems invites attackers to try to and hurt these systems, so in this respect, this is how the U.S. and China compare with their cybersecurity risks.
