In this day of technology, there are not only threats to companies in regards to cyber threats. We personally can be attacked and have cyber threats with our own personal computers and devices. So how can we know if our own computers are safe? How do we keep our computers safe? Well that’s what I want to talk about and hopefully give you some good information about keeping your devices safe. One of the ways to make sure your computer is safe is to make sure your computer is updated. A lot of computers today already have some sort of security integrated into the computers operating system already. So when your computer asks for updates and says it needs to be updated, sometimes, it will be for a security update to keep your computer safe. There are other ways as well, if you want even more security than what you get, you can buy third-party software to help protect your computer even further. There’s a couple different companies you can buy from, some of those being McAfee and Norton. Using these programs you can also see what sort of vulnerabilities, what types of attacks, and if there any sort of things you don’t want to see on your computer. You can also run scans on your computer for malware, you can run these scans on your computer without the third-party software and also on the third-party software. With these scans it will produce a report of what sort of malware has infected your computer if any and the recommended action to take to get rid of the malware. Another way to test if your computer is safe is too delete programs and files you don’t recognize. Sometimes attackers can install or place files on to your computer without you knowing and possibly be some sort of spyware. It is a great idea to go through and get rid of these files or applications that you don’t recognize to keep your computer safe. If you do these couple things your computer should stay safe and your information private.
