Discussion Board: Ethical Considerations of CRISPR Gene Editing

Should we be allowed to digitalize people’s DNA?

I feel at this stage of research and understanding of digitization on DNA, it is irresponsible to have DNA digitization. People aren’t aware of potential risks involved with digitization of their DNA when doing ancestry. Such as how important DNA protect is because peoples DNA is personal to them and can’t be changed. As well as new technology creating for the ability to code a malicious code into DNA that can infect a system, Which could have many criminal uses. As well as the fact that biohacking is still new and not fully understood and can continue to evolve which may lead to larger potential risks and dangers that are still unknown to us. I did ancestry DNA test recently before learning about this and now I am feeling regretful and a little anxious about my DNA being digitalized and wish I hadn’t done the test.
