Review Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and explain how each level relates to your experiences with technology. Give specific examples of how your digital experiences relate to each level of need.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a psychological theory that arranges human needs into a pyramid, with basic needs at the bottoms and high-level needs at the top. It’s a framework to see how technology can impact these needs. The most basic of needs, such as food, water, and shelter, doesn’t exactly play a crucial role when it comes to technology, food apps like Uber Eats or Door Dash allows food delivery. Safety needs such as financial security, health insurance, and care insurance is very important in my life. My family uses USAA since my father is military and there are a lot of security measures and document signing to secure my finances. Technology allows all of us to be involved in social interaction and relationships through social media and messaging apps, which helps make and maintain connections with friends and family. Zoom for example, has become essential during the COVID-19 pandemic for school. Although social media platforms can be a bad place, it can for some bring self-confidence and respect from others. I personally do not, but educational apps such as Duolingo or Chess.com can let you learn new skills and gain a sense of accomplishment. Technology facilitates self-actualization through platforms like Youtube, Netflix, or TikTok by recommendation algorithms, enhancing the user’s sense of fulfillment.
