Complete the Social Media Disorder scale. How did you score? What do you think about the items in the scale? Why do you think that different patterns are found across the world?

I received a score of 4 on the Social Media Disorder scale. I think that I have a much below average score than most people my age. Especially living in a time of technology, people would even say that social media is a must in order to keep in touch with friends and family. I got a lower score because I use social media minimally. I do not have FaceBook, Twitter, and I rarely use Instagram. This is because I don’t have a big enough reason to a whole lot of time on my phone when I can have a million other activities that are much more enjoyable. The questions asked were very broad, so I didn’t have a complete yes or no on most questions. Every country has different social media patterns that I found. Language plays a critical role in social media usage. Platforms may support only few languages and users are not likely to engage on platforms where they cannot communicate. Also, people alone from different countries are different. We have different values, which means that how we interact is different. Finally, I think the government and their policies play a big role. For example, there were news on China and their TikTok regulations sometime in the past year.
