My Major

I am majoring in nursing, and I chose that field because I have always had the desire to help others. For as long as I can remember, I have always been that friend who makes sure that everyone else is feeling healthy. Growing up and playing softball has taught me how to be a team player and how to work with many different types of people, so nursing always stuck out to me because it is a job that heavily relies on working with others. Also, a few of my aunts are nurses, so talking to them about what they do has also grown my interest in this field. I also noticed that when I would watch television shows, I would always gravitate towards medical shows, so that also made my interest grow in the field as well. I have previously volunteered in the summer at CHKD in the Physical Therapy section to see if that field was something I was interested in. I was able to work with the children that were receiving therapy and help with their activities that they had to complete. While this is not in the field of nursing, it sparked my interests in pediatrics. Since then, I knew that no matter what I did, I wanted to work with children.
