Artifact 1:
Below is a picture of the most impactful artifact for me. The enculturation discussion and exercise made me think about nature vs. nurture in terms of my own experiences. Not only how I was influenced growing up, but I continued to think about how I wanted to be influenced going forward and with my friends and family.

Artifact 2:
My favorite artifact because it was so closely related to my studies in posture and expression in dance! Through this activity I learned how much my confidence has changed and how much I have grown since even Sophomore year in college. I am no longer hunched over and hiding myself, or visibly uncomfortable. I believe that is part of what has opened so many opportunities for me in college. I have gained countless wonderful friendships, research opportunities, and my dedication to my schoolwork has given me a new perspective on how bright my future can be.

Artifact 3:
Below is a picture of the organization that influenced my amount of social engagement in college. Prior to joining the Filipino American Student Association, I was introverted to the point of avoiding public sidewalks. I used to think of happy memories as my lunches alone in the ROTC room in high school, or quietly studying alone in the library. After joining this organization, I grew into a social woman with happy memories with people I love. I now am one of the heads of the family, constantly talking with new people from different cultures, and growing to find joy in every single person I meet. The ability to subjectively look at cultures and appreciate all of the amazing traditions between them made learning in this course personal!

Artifact 4:
Below is an artifact about masculinity and femininity as compared between two countries. This artifact impacted me because it started my thought process of engaging material across course in my academic journey. I took a Women’s Studies course, so being able to see different operationalized definitions of material was engaging and interesting. At the time I had plans to go to Thailand, so this also started my interests in comparing cultures I was completely unfamiliar with.

Artifact 5:
Below is a picture that represents what makes me happy. I was put in the main position for a challenging dance for our main production. Through countless hours of work, we were able to present a physical dance with representation of an entire culture behind it. This artifact connected the academic and physical analysis that I have always enjoyed separately in my academic career.
