About Me
I am a researcher, an academic, and I have a passion for cognitive neuroscience. My focus began in rTMS therapy and neural firing rates, by undergraduate work focused on eye tracking in creative problem solving and working memory. My graduate coursework focuses on eye tracking in relation to individual differences in perception when a person in monetarily motivated.
I’m Emily Russell
I am a student at The University of Chicago, studying visual cognitive neuroscience under Dr. Yuan Chang Leong. I work on eye tracking and pupillometry to look at individual differences while a person is motivated monetarily. I have focused on visual cognitive neuroscience and perception, and hope to continue that direction in academic research.
I am an alumna from Old Dominion University, where I studied Applied Experimental Psychology with a minor in Dance. My passions are research, dance, academics, outdoors, and Filipino American culture!
Academic research is my next step, which I cannot wait to begin. I hope to continue work in visual perception, cognitive neuroscience, the Filipino-American community, for people with disabilities, and to encourage women in STEM fields.

My Interests
I have focused my life upon advancing in research. My passion in dance, psychology and academics have allowed me to pursue all of my passions simultaneously.
My passions may seem very different at first glance, but a commonality of patterning and structured creativity show a correlation between dance, research, and academia. The need for refinement and constant bettering of work drive me to these areas. I have been able to find relationships between physiology and anatomy in dance with psychophysics and critical thinking required for cognition research. I hope to use skills in leadership, adaptability, time management and patterning for my future work in research in academia.
I’m a sucker for research. Have more information for me to explore? Send me an article!
