Introduction

My name is Emma Wild and I am a senior at Old Dominion University with a major in Speech-Language Pathology and minor in Special Education. I am also working towards gaining the Teaching English as a Second Language certificate. I am from Virginia Beach and have been commuting to and from for my time at ODU.

I grew up learning about the world of special education as I have family that has worked in that field for as long as I can remember. From that I learned about speech pathology and it ignited a passion that I have for learning about how to treat communication and swallowing disorders. During my time at ODU in the Communication Sciences and Disorders classes that I’ve taken I’ve learned about the importance of providing the best education to English Language learners, I inquired about the certificate and decided it was something that I wanted to pursue. I believe that learning the ins and outs about the best way to provide education to ELL student’s will help me to become an even better clinician in the future.
