Throughout this semester in Sports and Strategic Communication, we have learned about valuable topics and forms of communication involved in the sports world. Professor O’Hallarn makes this course interactive and enjoyable but also helps with setting you up for a career in sports or communications. We began the course with creating an E-portfolio. This E-portfolio has many blogs within it that discuss many different things such as case studies, interviews, infographics and more. During this process, we also obtained a pen-pal who works in the sports industry. Having this pen-pal gave us opportunity to talk to a real person and get an inside look at what they do for their job. This is very helpful and beneficial to our futures because we will still have our portfolios after the course as well as still being able to have communicate with our pen pals. Towards the end of the course, we began researching and discussing NIL white papers. This was very helpful and educating because we got to work with other people in our class. During this research we created two power points and presented them to our class as well as working together to write a paper describing the process. Overall, Sports and Strategic Communication is a great course where one can gain knowledge on sports and the way media portrays it. I will be able to use this knowledge and communication skill gained from this course for future internships and jobs.
