Final Draft Reflection
Revisions
Since the rough draft, there have been several revisions and enhancements. First, based on the viewer feedback received, the narration pacing was adjusted to compliment the timing of the video transitions. This revision was accomplished through repeated trial and error. For example, the narration was tested by reciting aloud and timed before recording the final voiceover. In addition, audio music was also added to the video’s intro and outro, along with various transitions. Video enhancements include titles, transition graphics, caption texts, and overlays.
Proposal vs Final Draft
In comparison, the intended purpose of the multimodal proposal is met in the final draft through the incorporation of videos, photos, and texts while meeting estimated timeline deadlines. Thus, the goal of a relatable approach was executed through the insertion of a personal experience narrative. In addition, some fact-checking research was conducted making a minor portion of the video empirically informative. Moreover, all four essential technology elements were used in the final draft. However, the final draft fell short of the initial project plan due to the decision not to solely use creative licensed commons photos. Also, there was no shadowing experienced during production. Therefore, a reflector was not used as initially planned in the proposed plan for post-production.
Rhetorical Considerations
In considering future rhetorical considerations and the sustainability of the afterlife of this multimodal project metadata will not be required. However, it will be stored privately online by utilizing online storage like WordPress and Adobe Premiere, along with the delivery medium of YouTube. The responsibility of this project will continue up until my 2022 college graduation. Although the online lifespan is temporary it will be password-protected under customized privacy settings until deletion. From now until then this multimodal project will be accessed often as a portfolio reference for future classes. The viewer permissions will also be updated as needed on all online storage platforms, and safety checks conducted weekly on third-party sites.
Design Choices
Furthermore, the rhetorical choices for this final draft film are based on narration, visual, and audio levels. The meanings of these levels were shaped during the final draft production. For instance, during the personal experience video insertion, a close-up camera angle was chosen. The camera’s angle, placement, and natural lighting were a symbolic representation of the video’s theme. During the shot duration and presentation of the video, the on-screen visuals were in a consistent setting (personal in-home office). The tone of the main character’s voice compliments the pace and volume of the intro and outro film score. For instance, the film score is the same for the intro and outro which alerts viewers that something is about to start or end. Throughout the film, the transitional design choices are coherent to leverage genre conventions. For example, the repeated ‘dissolve’ transitions communicate to the audience that a change is about to occur. Lastly, all of the final draft’s design choices contributed to the overall achievement of the project’s intended purpose to appeal to its primary and secondary audiences.
