These activities are extension of the main topic of family members discussed in textbook/sample textbook evaluation. The lessons are primarily to increase learning of vocabulary about family members and associations. By providing personal information in these activities, it allows for more meaningful experience and deeper learning of the language. It demonstrates how concepts presented in the classroom can expand into tasks that learners are confronted with in their everyday lives in the real world. I believe this is what leads to increased curiosity and motivation for learners to continue exploration of the target language.
