Going into this class at the beginning of the semester I had no idea of what I was getting myself into. As the semester progressed I found myself developing a fondness of document design and some of the principles that go into it. I enjoyed learning about how colors, spacing, blocking, font, graphs, images and more played roles in a good design of a document. I also enjoyed looking over other forms of documents not only to learn from them but to also gauge wether or not they are beneficial to the intended audience. My favorite assignments this semester were the ones where I could include visuals. I enjoy including visuals because sometimes an image can convey a thought better than words can. I saw how important visuals can be when we did the user manual project. In some cases words were not enough to show how a particular step had to be done and that was why images were so helpful. Coming into this class I had no idea how to use certain software to create documents but overtime I found an appreciation for the design software because it gave me the ability to put my ideas into a visual space. In the end it did take me awhile to understand the design process in the sense of constantly drafting, editing, and revamping until you get to your final product but I now understand why it is important. Without constantly checking and changing your document you may never let your document get to its full potential. Overall I have learned a lot from this class and I know I will continue to take and use these skills in the future.
