How has cyber technology created opportunities for workplace deviance?

Cyber technology has tremendously increased the opportunities for workplace deviance. These deviation a partly due to availability of technological tools and the shift from manual shift of doing things to relying heavily on technological tools to do assist in day to day operations of a business without as much man power compared to years ago, when technology wasn’t so readily available. As much as the availability of technology has contributed to opportunities for work place deviance the lack of awareness and training on how to better utilize the availability of technology without causing workplace deviances. The lack of awareness is due to a lack of training offered by companies to ensure that employees are well trained and inform on workplace deviances and how to avoid them. In some cases employers may train employees and do their best to inform them on the dangers of workplace deviances but the issue is that the are no policies to enforce deviances from happening. Hence there are no accountability measures in place to hold employees accountable for failing to adhere to policies that eliminate workplace deviances. As a results, employees are causing workplace deviance without realizing the risk the pose to their company by doing so. Things that seem so simple like leaving your computer unlocked and walking away for a minute or two can cause great damage if any one should seize that window of opportunity to access that computer. Secondly something that seems as simple us through a paper with confidential information in the trash can with a clients name on it could cause great damage to the company or organization if the wrong person with the knowledge on how to exploit that opportunity stumbles upon it. Accessing your work cell phone without caution of who is around or who may be sneak picking from your shoulders can expose confidential information to the wrong person or people.
