Well thought that if I were on the Journal page, and I made a new post, it would go under there…..but alas either it cant be done or I cannot figure out how to do it. I was thinking about how using my entrepreneurial mindset should help me tackle that issue, but I just found it easier to make a new post. This post is a bit off the target too, I know I am supposed to write these first posts on the material in class, but I found that I used this class and mindset in a problem I was face with this week.
The issue was that I heard the DC Uber drivers were going to strike. I thought about how I could take advantage of this news. I signed up for Uber and in about 1 week I was able to start driving. I had identified the opportunity for the need of drivers and had started planning my venture. It was quite simple, I looked at my calendar and picked a few days that I could drive, and for how long. I figured in my gas mileage and tank capacity. The only unknown was and is still the quantity of customers you are going to get in one days work. I didn’t really need a prototype, the business model was already in place, but the testing was actual real time driving. I liked the way this model worked, on many fronts. It was a good experience that first day, and is the reason why I am still doing it. The only downside, that I had not put much thought into, was the mileage on my car. In two months since purchasing it, I put 4,900 miles on it. Since doing Uber, in 3 weeks I out about 3500 miles on it. Something to think about….
