About Me

Bernard Ayuyao

I like to consider myself a diligent and hardworking individual. I try to keep myself motivated and determined because I aim to have a bright future for my family and I. My family has immigrated from the Philippines to live a better life with plenty of opportunities. In order to do that, my dad enlisted in the Navy to open doors for my sister and I. If it wasn’t for my dad and all the sacrifices my parents have made, we would not have the opportunity to earn our Bachelor’s Degree.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Economics at San Diego State University and shortly after graduating, I decided to join the Navy. I earned my Commission as a Naval Officer through the Officer Candidate School program and I am still faithfully serving as an active-duty Naval Officer to this day. I was the first person to earn a commission as an Officer in my family and carry my father’s legacy. The reason I decided to further my education in cybersecurity is because my job title deals with assured communications and the cyber realm. Also, I want to open more opportunities for my wife and I so that we can have a better future. I know Old Dominion University will further my knowledge and help me grow both professionally and personally.
