There are many types of cybersecurity subcultures such as professional, cybercriminal, fraud, hacker, etc. In the song “In Scam We Trust” G4Choppa and the G4Boys talk about a litany of cyber offenses that their posse has committed. One of the crimes they mention is catfishing someone in online dating and then getting that person to send them funds. The group also mentions that “they don’t mind if you log in” referring to the fact that if the victim logs into their account the G4Boys will now have their password and access to the funds. Another thing the G4Boys say is that “my gift card comes with funds, please swipe transaction done” alluding to the fact that they already have someone’s information. Something else the group does in the video has more than ten credit/debit cards in hand. They are clearly stealing to get them as they mention themselves. The G4Boys also say to “close down your account once you get the funds”. By doing this the person that sent the money can never get it back because the G4Boys withdrawal the money they were sent. G4Choppa and the G4Boys would be part of the cybercriminal subculture because they are an organized group of peers and the fraud subculture because they scam people out of their money, but they aren’t in the professional subculture because they are not being paid to ethically hack. I am unsure if the G4Boys would be considered to be in the hacker subculture or not due to the fact they mention being able to get someone’s account information, while, in my opinion, there isn’t enough information about their technological knowledge. All the categories of cybersecurity subcultures were learned in-class lectures on the PowerPoint. In conclusion, G4Choppa and the G4Boys take part in various cybersecurity subcultures and influence them as well.
