This CNN host would probably be in the majority if this question was posed to the rest of the modern USA population. I think this has to do with the decriminalization, destigmatization, and legalization of weed over the last decade. This has to do with the culture being more progressive and the experts learning about all of the health benefits marijuana can have on the user, such as pain relief, anxiety reduction, etc. In addition to this, the negative effects of alcohol and its ability to cause harm to people other than the consumer are well documented. Irresponsible use of alcohol can lead to car accidents, assaults, sexual assaults, rapes, and other overtly dangerous acts. Weed on the other hand, besides giving a near person a contact high, doesn’t have nearly as many documented conflicts directly involving it. The CNN host, the general populace, and I would all agree that alcohol would be worse than weed to give to one’s kids if those were the only options.
