Ann got an email saying that she had gotten a free coupon for her shopping website. To receive this coupon all she had to do was provide her account information. When she did a hacker got her information and used it to get money from her account. It is people like Ann, and even the person that hacked her, who proves why we need cybersecurity. People such as Ann need their info. protected from the various cyber-threats. People like the hacker need to be prevented from accessing this information. Cybersecurity is also used to protect companies and institutions info. from threats as well. The cyber-threats are always changing and evolving so there needs to be a method of prevention for this. Ann made a grievous error in judgement by not checking the legitimacy of the website. She did this because she thought it was trustworthy and because she was going to receive a reward. Tools to prevent this are anti-virus software, a firewall, implementing a honeypot, using unique passwords, and altogether avoiding these unverified emails.
