Proposal 

Millions of people are attacked through cyber crimes every year. As technology grows, so does the amount of cybercrime victims. Individuals are not the only ones affected by these crimes either. Corporations and businesses big and small are also affected by cybercrimes. The proposal I’m bringing forward today will help guide, teach, and hopefully decrease the amount of cyber crime cases reported every year. Cybercrime is an act made out by technology to increase information as well as using a computer to gain more, as in money, or information to use for illegal acts.  Online impersonation, phishing scams, Data breaches, and Cyber extortion are the top five committed cybercrimes. As many people in our society are uneducated on cybercrimes and what they actually are and how they work they don’t have the understanding or the training to overcome these acts when they have been committed. Even in the growth of technology, and the more security placed within technology, this is not going to stop the cyber criminals from gaining more knowledge to overcome the security within the technology.  Individuals as well as many businesses in our society don’t realize the way to trend on the internet. How to stay safe. The program I am proposing will help reduce the insane amount of cybercrimes committed. This program will be designed to help guide, train, and put a stop to these crimes. 

Cybercrime is a growing issue in today’s world. As more than half of our society is affected everyday by some form of cybercrime, there is a huge need in a way to prevent it.  As this happens to millions of people every year, the majority of those victims have no answer, or thought on how to deal with it once it happens. With the lack of knowledge on cybercrime and how to handle it, this is the problem that the program we’re creating will hopefully solve. The program won’t be designed to guarantee no cybercrimes, as that would be unrealistic in our society today. The goal is to decrease the amount of cybercrimes committed each year, as well as give more education on the matter, as it becomes more of a problem. Not knowing when you will become a victim of cyber crime as it is something that can’t be predicted this program can give a little hope that when it does happen, you can have a plan to deal with it, maybe even stop it. 791,790. This was the number of cybercrimes reported to the FBI in 2020. Cybercrimes have grown at a rapid pace in the past decade, and will only continue to grow as more cybercrimes are created. The question is what will help prevent these crimes, or help the victims fight back against them? Our proposal to help with this major issue is a cyber awareness program. This program will provide a guide as we are going to be creating a handbook which will be a protocol cyber response tool when the act is committed. It will guide them into understanding what the next step is and how to handle the situation. The program will have workshops so that individuals and businesses can be trained on how to solve the problem as well as understand the problem as it happens. It will give them a way to hopefully fix the problem without having to hire or put out money. Lastly our program will share safety tips in a form to hopefully teach those who do not know the severity of cybercrime. 

The hope of this program is for it to become an answer to cybercrimes. The program will have a protocol handbook for information on how to handle the crimes, workshops to train how to prevent them, and safety tips to teach those who don’t understand. The goal of the program is to decrease crimes committed against individuals and businesses. Giving them an extra tool to help fight this fight that is becoming more and more common as technology advances. Our program will reach out to work with organizations, corporations,businesses (big and small), and individuals. We will be reaching out to those who have experienced cybercrimes and are looking for a way to prevent further ones, as well as those who have not experienced them, but want a sense of security for when it does. This program will hopefully allow the rise to the awareness of cybercrime as well as help those who need more information and understanding on the matter.

In the hopes this program will kick off as the issue has a negative effect on society, our gain from this program will seek to help more than the millions of victims that deal with cybercrimes. As our workshops would be a way to help show and train what to be on the lookout for, what to understand, and how to detect the difference between safe and unsafe online trending. The program would benefit with just these workshops we would offer, but as many successful businesses or organizations having different formats of information or product always benefit in the long run. With this thought, our group came up with the idea to also make the protocol handbook. This book can be kept, and looked over again and again, unlike the workshops that are most likely going to be a class that you take and only take again if you want too. The book can be a reference kept always. This program presented is not a program greeted just for businesses or a one particular group. This program is for anyone who feels the need, or wants to further their education on cybercrimes, as well as have more sense of security to allow them to have a plan in case they ever became a victim.

As we talk about barriers and what we expect to come up with our program we think about the profit we would make from this program, how we would be able to seek clients, as well as keep them, and what’s next as technology grows so will our workshops and our handbooks.  In understanding the need for a cyber awareness program some things that are brought up, what  will help fight these barriers so we are able to see the other side of them? The first major breaker would be to sell. This isn’t going to be something we can sell door to door, we would have to have a strategy, and understanding of the kind of clients and program we are trying to build. In doing this we are looking to build a social media platform, as the majority of our world is one type of social media that will increase the odds of our program being seen, in hopes of whoever sees it reaching out for help.  Other ideas we have would be to do networking events, sending our factual information in the form of a letter to many businesses we are seeking to work with. In the theory we gain businesses, we can then use these businesses to gain more clients as we can partner with them to make a sort of deal to the clients who partake in our program. For example if a client is invested in a business that is also invested in us. That business hopefully will have a program in place to allow these new clients to receive a discount, or benefit from taking action to help prevent a crime. In keeping our clients is another barrier that comes across. We think of ideas on what we can do to advance or help benefit the clients over time. The idea that comes to mind is having a team that can update information year after year so that the clients are up to date on all new cyber information. Having a hotline that can be contacted at all hours of the day to be at the hands and feet of the customer if needed. As the more clients we have the more ideas will have to be created but creating new products and more information will help knock that barrier. This will help keep clients within the program. Cybercrimes are no doubt a major problem today. In hopes that our Cyber awareness Group will decrease the number of reported crimes committed each year, this program will gain profit, as it is a program not only for products but also education. Investing in education and more knowledge gives an understanding to our future clients that they can fight this and they do have an answer to fix the problem. 

As we wrap up this proposal, the question is success. How will this program be a success, not only for a short period of time. When our program sees success we are hoping to see the decrease in cyber crimes reported, not only among our clients, but also as a society. The success would be having new clients come to us for help, from the word of clients that already exist. Giving information to help guide, teach, and train those who are in need. Our program’s success isn’t going to be looked at in just the amount of profit we made. It’s going to be the amount  of people and businesses we help within our program and our world. Our program will be successful when we can say we are helping those in need, changing the world, and gaining a profit all at the same time.
