- What are the connections between the disciplines addressing entrepreneurship at ODU?
At ODU, we recognize that entrepreneurship is interdisciplinary. Entrepreneurship applies to everyone in their disciplines or areas of interest. This being said, let’s see an example of the connection between entrepreneurship and the field of psychology. Entrepreneurs must use psychological facts to learn a market or build emotional intelligence.
- Is entrepreneurship an art or science?
Entrepreneurship is both an art and a science. Science, because it uses the scientific method as a discipline. Art because it involves creativity.
- How is failure good?
Sometimes, failure is good. Failure is an indicator that helps us consider our strategies and provide clear proof of our improvement. Although failure brings about something positive, the positivity is always potentially combined with pain. Coping with the side effects of failure is integral for a failure to be good.
- What have I learned from failing?
In 2017, I started a computer literacy center in the refugee camp where I was living. I didn’t have good planning, but I opened the center. After six months, I ran out of cash and closed the business; It was a failure. I learned that good planning is essential for a company to be successful.
- What ethical issues might arise related to what I am working on?
Several ethical issues might arise when I am working on something. For example, I might be passionate about a project, but my boss forbids me from working on it. In this situation, I am in a dilemma of obeying the boss or following my passion (and working on the project secretly).
