What does it cost to play Asteroids? What benefits do you get from playing Asteroids? When do you reach your plateau? When does your reward not justify your investment in the game?

Playing asteroids costs me time that I could be using more effectively elsewhere. There is not benefit for me, as I have no interest in the game. I played three rounds just to see if I could figure it out. Once I got the arrow keys and the shift function down I was done with it. The reward never justified the investment in my case because it isn’t inline with anything I would like to do to move forward.

Tedx vs WOW gamer

I understand the argument both people were trying to make, but after meeting 50+ years old’s who never found what made them happy and still have to work trivial jobs when their cohorts are retired and enjoying life is the ultimate example of why you must do what you need to before you do what makes you happy. The WOW gamer I believe is a bit different as he was just expanding his craft to include more variety, while explaining to his audience to give them an option to stay or go, which is great that he took them under consideration. The TEDx speaker lost me when she started talking to her feet and singing. I understand that in some extreme cases you have to take the leap, but I cant agree on constantly quitting to find your bliss.

How does loss aversion keep you from making choices? How does the God Complex keep you from making choices?

I don’t believe I have a God complex because I am faced with new learning curves regularly which keeps me humble with the knowledge that I may never know everything and there are different ways to get the solution you need. I take my losses early and often, so that ideally when I need what ever it is, we have a better understanding of what will work for the majority. I have seen people with the God complex though and sometimes selling the idea to them can be very discouraging, the switching the results option will not work for me so, i will have to continue to be creative in pitching new ideas.

What is my perspective of the Entrepreneurship experience? What I liked best and least about the experience?

From my perspective, Entrepreneurship is taking educated initiative. Seeing an issue, educating yourself on that issue and its possible solutions and then charting out ways to fix the issues. It is something that can also be used when working within a team, every entrepreneur doesn’t need to be a solo act, and doesn’t need to start their own business, but having the mind set can help business go further and reach more people. What I liked best about the experience would have to be knowing that it never stops and learning some of the right ways going forward to pitch more sound ideas. The Model Canvas’s will definitely have a permanent place in my life’s toolbox. Something I would have liked better would have been the option to build on something that would benefit the students workplace or current community that could have been implemented even if not necessarily tied to the major, as most of my solo entrepreneurship ventures have been social based and while not always tied to one’s major, doing a project on something one feels strongly about create more of a drive and excitement even to cut out the time and get it done and the satisfaction from completing it is way more rewarding.

What’s next for me? How did the entrepreneurship prepare or not prepare you to be a competitive candidate for vacant positions?

My current intention is to be career military. While continuing to work and grow my knowledge in cybersecurity, I will continue to educate those around me and help them help us all create a more secure community. While we have career plans semi-designed for us in the military, there is room to grow and raise the bar in certain positions. Entrepreneurship when thought out in the way this course has taught us to think helps will help me to vet and bring constructive new ideas to my community, which will put me in a better position to continue forward in the military by being an asset to each command I visit. Which will then set me up to contract with the military in entrepreneurship ventures after I retire if I so choose.

What are the connections between opportunities and planning?

You can make more out of your opportunities when you plan for them. Planning is a big part of every endeavor because all though it may be changing constantly, having a plan keeps you moving in the right direction. Once you know were you’re headed you will be in a better position to take advantage of opportunities presented to you.

How has design thinking influence a product I use?

This question automatically makes me think of Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms that are constantly finding ways to improve and make things better for their users. As we’ll as amazon and all the other supply options that I feel used design thinking when COVID forced them to make them quickly change their methods of reaching their customers. I think the main one i use would be the Walmart app that allows for social distancing in store, at the pimp and delivery.

What is design thinking?

According to Tim Brown, President and CEO of IDEO, it is defined as ” a human-centered approach to innovation that draws from the designers toolkit to integrate the needs of people, the possibilities of technology, and the requirements for business success”. My understanding after the material provided is that it is a faster and more active approach to getting ideas on the market. Making educated prototypes and refining your ideas as you progress. Starting from a problem that has been identified by direct observation and qualitative data.

What is my role in the ecosystem?

When looking at ODU as the ecosystem, my role as a student entrepreneur is to learn the concepts, practice the skills, and learn the resources available to me and other students here at ODU. When viewing the world as the ecosystem, my role is to look at things through the entrepreneurial lens and apply educated solutions or help others with their solutions to create things that benefit society.

How does ODU view entrepreneurship?

Based on the lessons, I would say ODU views entrepreneurship as the ability to take initiative. To see voids in the world and find ways to fill them regardless of an individuals trade or background. There is room for everyone who wants to make positive changes or additions to the world to get it done.

Am I a self-starter? How well do I follow through on my ideas?

I am a self-starter. I am actually pretty good about following through on my ideas, although sometimes I have to set aside time to review said ideas because I have known myself to get tunnel vision, while as things change sometimes the idea needs to as well.

What is Success?

From my perspective, Success is when you have met or exceeded the end goal you set for yourself in whatever your doing. For example, if I decided that there was an issue with how many children lack access to lunch while stuck home during COVID, which is a problem that multiple organization recognized. I would decide on an idea to help such as making meals and finding an safe and open area for kids to pick them up at pre-planned times. I would consider it a success when the area is setup up with meals ready to go and the kids in need are made aware and take advantage of the free meals.

Am I an entrepreneur?

Yes, I consider myself an entrepreneur. I have always been able to see a void and find a way to fix it. When I was an undergrad I definitely took it to a new level by being introduced to grant writing with one of my organizations and helping to have over three hundred trees planted around campus with coordination with outside organizations. Since graduating I would just consider myself a social entrepreneur.

Day -12

Found an error in the way I have been doing my Journals. After reviewing what I thought I had done incorrectly, I have found that I over thought the issue and started over for nothing, but it’s okay, going over everything again with more focus has helped more than it hurt anyway.

Day 2

Day two has been spent going over material a second time and brainstorming ideas for a project to focus on throughout this course that ties into my major. It’s a little harder that originally anticipated, being that all other projects I’ve worked on have been social or community oriented, other than the network centric projects framed by big Navy goals. Right now the problem is defining a problem I can provide a solution for.
