Journal entry: Week 1
Am I an entrepreneur?
I am not an entrepreneur but reach to an entrepreneur level mindset at the end of this entrepreneurship course. Entrepreneur is for everyone, and anyone can be an entrepreneur. I don’t see myself as one is only for a short period of time. I have a lot of learning and practice to do until I can accept myself as an entrepreneur. I have tried to create an innovation and it didn’t go well. I understood the topic but creating and making that innovation come to live failed. By the end of the CYSE494 course my innovation will show that I have reached an entrepreneur level.
What is success?
Success can mean many things. There are a lot of different ways people can achieve success. Some entrepreneurs, their success is reaching the goal in their earning lots of money and running a high profitable business. An example of someone achieving success is launching a clothing company in their own brand. They start off with having people see their clothing brand, having friends/family do photoshoots, having preorders so they know how much clothing they need to make for their new customers. And repeat the process all over social media, customers posting your clothing brand, engaging more customers to order your brand. Before you know it, your brand becomes profitable and can start to create a team to expand. And keep making better clothing brands that will keep their business successful.
Am I a self-starter? How well do I follow through on my ideas?
I once thought I was a self-starter, but I would say I am not because I haven’t followed through my ideas lately. I am able to set personal goals, and work on those goals to find solutions on my own. But my time management is not right. To be a self-starter I think they often build efficient teams who can complete tasks and achieve their innovation goals independently. I tried to work on my innovation with my team and it didn’t go well. As of now I have to work harder and use all my resources to be successful in this innovation. By the end of this semester when I complete my innovation, I will call myself a self-starter.
How does ODU view entrepreneurship?
“It is knowing how to get there and where to begin that is key” is the way the ODU views entrepreneurship. ODU says that entrepreneurship is for everyone. Also, that anyone can be an innovator or entrepreneur. There is a lot in this generation for innovation to grow faster than before with connections, technology, social media, etc. “As one begins to think about ideas and to brainstorm possibilities, connecting the dots becomes clearer. But how, or where, does one start?” One other way the ODU view is thinking of your entrepreneur goal as a navigation system trying to reach your destination.
What is my role in this ecosystem?
My role in ecosystem cybersecurity. Creating a firm that involves cyber devices such as computers, software, technology, etc. I will create a business that will protect people from attackers through technology. So that people will be safe online and not have their identity stolen, lose their Financials, secrets hacked, personal information, etc. Technology is improving and there should be improvement in protecting people through new technology as well
