Week 2- Journal

Design thinking is a creative problem solving which prioritizes the needs of consumers above everything else. There are five phases of design thinking – empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test.  Design thinking has a great influence on the products that my family and I use, ranging from health to technology. Uber Eats, for example, has redefined food delivery by connecting people like us to the variety of restaurants across the globe. Since technology is continuously evolving, the innovation of Uber Eats and other food delivery apps have made life a little easier and more convenient for others.

Opportunities and planning are connected in so many ways. Opportunity allows for a business to grow; strategic planning is the tool needed to make it happen. From financial opportunities to  customer/client/stakeholders’ opportunities, or internal opportunities to  learning and growth opportunities, strategic planning helps you identify each opportunity and must be done in a very systematic manner. Missed opportunities are the ones that I did not see or failed to identify as an opportunity. I know I have missed quite a few, and it may be because I may have had reasons that may have held me back on pursuing it, regardless of what the reason may be, it was still a missed opportunity and all I can do is move forward and accept that there will be more that may come my way.

Depending on how one may define success, a successful venture can certainly be unethical. For example, a student taking a test may cheat and pass the test. It certainly wasn’t ethical but he or she succeeded and passed. Or the tobacco company’s that sell tobacco products. The consequential theory behind it is that the company can profit from selling tobacco products even though it can be harmful to one’s health. The results are good for the company; therefore the act is good.
