This projects focus is to create something that relates to our major and will help the world in some form. I am an interdisciplinary leadership major, and my three other group members are cybersecurity. I had to originally wonder why I was grouped with others that did not share the same major as me and I brainstormed several reasons. I came up with it could possibly be just me in this major taking the class, or maybe cybersecurity is a popular choice in 2023 and everyone taking this class is required to in order to get their degree. It was only days later I looked up how does leadership entangle with cybersecurity and received guidance. Leadership styles provides benefits and qualities for organizations that work on technology advancements to perfect performance while being equipped for potential cyber risk through their journey to be cyber secure. With reading about the advantages of included both majors into one it increases the leverage on how to be able to provide to the community what is needed by having a visionary leader that plans for outlook.
Our group has decided on innovating an app that will target the audience of many individuals. The individuals being targeted will be for people over the age of 18 for both men and woman. This app will be user friendly for a worldwide problem we as people experience whether it is using our phones and clicking on a site that makes our phones freeze, logging into our computer and getting fraudulent malware popups that state it’s needed for our computer protection, or even an email saying that amazon charged us and we need to call a number to confirm. We see this happen daily and many people are not aware of how to avoid and protect themselves from being hacked or scammed because as the world develops so does cyber-attacks.
I know this is a problem because me not being computer savvy and knowledgeable on what is real or just trying to get my information for purposes of their own. I have believed the amazon email stating I was going to get charged 389 for a new iPhone I never ordered and directed to a number to call. I knew not to call that number and looked up amazon customer service to just be told there is no pending order of withdraw and to avoid any other scams to call back this number. There is no way to truly know if you make a log in account to something or even for an example search for a new scarf online and then your getting unknown messages to your phone with a link that can turn your phone black or freeze it on a particular screen. I have also spoke to older family members that have older computers that make sure they keep a software to protect the computer from moving slow and getting a bug but still get pop ups to renew. When they press the button not knowing it is not real the whole computer stops working and they get charged on their own personal cards. This is not just a certain group of people but anyone that has device can fall for these scams due to not being up to date on what to look out for.
The mission on how to create a solution to this problem is through the application we plan to create that will be a go to whether that is to stay up to date on security for oneself or to help those that have or currently going through a security breech in any form of way. The app will have to be downloaded but it will not require anything beside the date of birth and first name of the individual which will make the person feel comfortable. The app will be a training app that sends people in the right direction. An idea to be able to separate the two types of people we have mentioned would go straight to filling out the generic information I mentioned prior it will have two options. One option will be “I just want to stay up to date for my security” and the other option will be “I need to know if I have been hacked.” The app will have a breakdown of need information with questions that many people ask when it comes to cyber security with each question it will have information and tips with hyperlinks for further guidance. With this app it can be a great training course for employes to download and go over cybersecurity information that needs to be integrated to the company policy. This will educate many and decrease the cyberattacks around the world with the more knowledge we add to the app.
Barriers come with every innovation design that is why many people come together brainstorm, ideate, and create possible prototypes to see what can help avoid barriers. I believe creating an app has pros and cons just by it being and app in general. Many people including I prefer to rather not install many things to their phone due to some downloads cause viruses or make the phone move slower. That may decrease the amount of people interested in a new start up business until it curates more reviews and users to help it be trusted. Another barrier that we may run into is having investors willing to be apart of the app which will benefit them but may cause other unwanted traffic. People will have inquiries and the app may not answer all the concerns of customers so we may need to have an open chat where someone can respond and repost frequent questions and concerns. Another barrier we may face is the need for new updates since cyber attacks increase daily to be more sufficient in their work of art.
The success rate on this innovation project will one be graded as a good idea but also be viewed as reasonable use. There are so many apps out there already that offer help, but you must pay after a trial or to get more detailed information. In this case if we are successful, we can change the app to also needing a user’s email so we can send advertisement and updated changes for cyber awareness. We will be able to be partners with large companies where they make employees download the app and take monthly or yearly classes to keep everyone up to date on avoidance. With the mosre use of the app it will gain in numbers of customers making it an known site where we can eventually start charging users after giving them a trial as well so we can have people working the app daily and create jobs. This can be very successful in the long run because the world is being more technology based and almost everyone has a phone so that’s already part of the process.
In conclusion we will focus on making the users comfortable enough to know that this app is for protection and information in the cyber world. We want it to be an app the younger generation downloads on their parents and grandparents’ phones so they can answer any questionable site without having to go through the younger generation.
