Hmmm...
Growing up, I never played team sports nor played sports, and I was only interested in martial arts because of my dad and grandfather. In elementary and middle school, I was slightly interested in American football because my friends loved it; I liked teams my friends liked, but I didn't know much about the players. In high school, I remembered getting attached to the Seattle Seahawks because of numerous family vacations in Seattle; I wanted to have a career there, some of my family lived there, and we had the Legion of Boom! I followed team updates through my parents (word of mouth), watched their games on any television network they aired, and wore my Cam Chancellor jersey every game they had! While in college in 2019, I remembered a substantial national shift in the sports community after the death of George Floyd. After watching, most athletes started to speak like political figures, voicing their concerns about lower wages and having no voice. Yet, they play a national sport, earn more than six figures in income, and live lavishly. I firmly believe that sports and politics have no business mixing! After watching the political shift, I was utterly disinterested in American team sports. I started to watch more individualized sports like rock climbing, strongmen, Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, wrestling, UFC, etc., because I do many of these in my off time. Currently, I get most of my diet through Instagram as I keep up with athletes through social media updates, watching them in their rehabilitation phase, off-season sessions, getting ready for weigh-ins, and prepping for meets. Every so now and then, since the American team sports, primarily the NFL, have gotten better over the years or the politics have died down, I occasionally will sit down with my parents and watch the Kansas City Chiefs play on TV. Ever since my family and I watched the Quarterback documentary on Netflix, I've gained a new respect for Patrick Mahomes, so my parents chose the Kansas City Chiefs as their new team, and I happen to like them! Overall, this concludes my sports diet.
