After completing two papers,reviewing a returned paper,and taking inventory of my strengths and weaknesses on my editing skills checklist since the beginning of the semester, my writing has changed a lot. In the beginning of this semester I struggled with many punctuation and run on sentence errors;furthermore, I was not confident with my writing. Since then, I have gained some confidence in my writing and have learned how to correct my writing errors. My errors caused me to not pass my Writing Sample Placement Test before the semester began but after receiving my essay one score I am confident I will be able to pass the next time I take it. I have also learned what to look and watch out for when taking the WSPT and I understand the guidelines much more than I did before. I have learned the most common and specific writing errors and have also learned where to look for help when writing and coming across one. Based off of that, I have also learned how to avoid these writing errors all together. The editing skills checklist for my first essay has shown me certain things I need to work on that im confident I can fix and correct with the next essay. The checklist has also shown me the things that I excel in such as spelling and capitalization. In the beginning of the semester a big struggle for me was run on sentences because I didn’t know how to punctuate them properly. At the halfway point of this course I now know how to properly fix a run on sentence if not avoid them all together. At the halfway point in this course my writing has changed positively based on many things, allowing me to achieve better scores and be a more confident writer.
