This course provided an in-depth exploration of digital forensic principles, tools, and methodologies used to investigate and analyze cyber incidents. Key topics included evidence collection, preservation, and analysis, as well as the legal and ethical considerations of digital forensics. Practical applications involved using industry-standard tools to conduct forensic investigations on compromised systems, ensuring chain of custody, and preparing reports suitable for legal proceedings. The course emphasized critical thinking and problem-solving in identifying, mitigating, and documenting security breaches.
Course Material
Throughout the Digital Forensics course, I gained practical experience in the principles and techniques of forensic investigations. My work included analyzing digital evidence, recovering lost or deleted files, and preparing detailed forensic reports. I conducted hands-on labs using industry-standard tools like Autopsy and FTK to identify security breaches, recover critical data, and trace malicious activities. A significant focus was placed on ethical considerations, including maintaining the chain of custody and preparing for expert witness testimony.
Key projects included recovering deleted files (e.g., a kayak photo), analyzing disk images, and simulating courtroom testimony, showcasing my ability to handle both technical and legal aspects of digital forensic investigations.
