I enrolled in the Introduction to Technical Writing (ENGL 231C) course in Spring 2022. This course wanted me to create several projects that met a certain format of essays, and one of my projects for that class was to create a research report about anything. In this case, I chose the lampposts around ODU. I went around campus and measured the light intensity of the lampposts and saw the variation between each kind. Then, there was the research process on how these lampposts can be improved upon, either the type of light bulb or the complete structure of the entire lamppost. It was rather informative to see how many lampposts there were and what kind of state they were in. This project took me out of my comfort zone and had me going around the campus. I would usually only research on my computer and not get involved in any kind of physical activity, but with the goal of having a profitable project, I persevered. If I were to use the skills that I’ve obtained from this project in the future, I would probably make a proper plan of my research process and maybe ask for help if needed.
