The first step when solving problems with Bernoulli’s equation is to establish a reference point. The next step is to establish point A and point B. Point A should be where the most information is known and point B should be where information is being looked for. When selecting point B, it is most helpful to use a good deal of common sense and to establish this point at the end of a pipe rather than the middle of a pipe. It is important to remember, when working with a diameter change, that the velocity of the smaller pip will be greater than the velocity of the larger pipe.
