About Me
This semester, I have learned a great deal about the mechanics of fluids and how different apparatuses interact with each other. I was able to develop my knowledge of various equations that confirm my past understanding of piping systems.
This semester I was able to critically think through large scale engineering problems. I was also able to develop my critical thinking process by understanding that an engineers first responsibility is to develop a solution rather that develop an equation for the solution.
I was able to develop the way that I solve engineering problems by writing out all the known variable and information along with my solution process before I begin to do any calculations. This encouraged me to think about my solution process before beginning to work on calculations.
This semester, my strongest work has been analyzing a piping and determine where the energy losses will occur. After this analyzation, the calculations for the energy losses are simplified because I understand the theory behind the equations.
The study of fluid mechanics allows for the analysis of various concepts that will fulfill my educational objectives. My educational objectives are being able to design a piping system and understanding how various apparatuses will interact with the piping system. The study of how fluid interacts with the walls of pipes, pipe size changes, fittings, and valves, are important for designing a piping system.
Understanding the mechanics of fluids and how they will interact with various apparatuses, will develop tools that are necessary for every professional designer. The study of fluid mechanics will also provide a base of knowledge for future classes.
