Throughout the course, Spanish 101, I was taught several important concepts. I learned how to hold basic conversations, and only struggle when the person is speaking too fast or if they start getting really specific about what they are talking about. I am now able to understand numbers, telephone numbers, and dates very clearly, and when speaking to someone I can understand when they are trying to communicate these things as well.
I think learning another language is important, because you learn the culture as well. I found greetings to be really interesting, because in the Hispanic culture it is usually very personal and in the US it is the opposite. An example of that would be kissing on the cheeks, because this is not something that you would usually encounter in the US. However, it shows that in the Hispanic culture they are very community based or very close with their family and friends.
I believe understanding the world around you and the community you live in is really important. Personally, I love to learn about new ideas and cultures, and try to work with my community as much as I can. I love doing volunteer work, and I try to have packed lunches in my car for the homeless. I think if people want to start changing the world, then it needs to start with you.
Throughout this course there were several discussion boards, and different type of conversations held with my peers and instructor. We had different conversations about school, our schedules, our homes, our campus, and the people we like. These conversations were really important, because it helped me further understand how to speak in Spanish correctly and understand when another person is speaking to me in Spanish. I really enjoyed these conversations, because it was a place where you could help each other with this new language. Our discussion boards were always important, because it helped me understand where everyone else was with learning a (maybe) new language.

Overall, I really enjoyed taking this class because it taught me so many new concepts. This course started off difficult and got easier over time with practice and learning new ideas. I really enjoyed learning everything I did, if I could change anything about what I did, it would have been to dedicate more time to learning a new language because it is a little hard. I struggle with pronunciation still, but am constantly trying to perfect it. I believe with time and dedication learning a language could be easy to anyone.
