Developing cybersecurity programs in businesses can have many benefits to the business, but its definitely not free, that’s for sure. While it is a costly endeavor to develop and implement a cybersecurity program, the benefits are far greater than the cost, especially given the price you pay to implement a cybersecurity program will be far less than the amount of money you will lose if attacked.

The benefits provided by cybersecurity programs help with the protection of your data against data breaches, since cybersecurity programs work to safeguard a businesses data, and protect it from unauthorized access. Another benefit not directly noticed by businesses in terms of security, is the trust customers would have in the business that shows commitment to developing a cybersecurity program. A big reason that the development of a cybersecurity program is considered to being with, is the security of the network, website, and other digital assets associated with the business.

While there are many benefits that come with the development and implementation of cybersecurity programs in a business, the cost involved is not always affordable, mainly to small businesses. There is more than just the initial investment of setting up a cybersecurity program, but a business needs to have the funds to afford all the physical stuff like hardware for a cybersecurity program. On top of that, there are ongoing costs associated that involve maintenance, and updates. Besides physical assets that need to be purchased, staff training takes a good portion of the budget. A business would need to hire a skilled professional to train the employees, as well as any new employees, which would be another ongoing cost.

Between the cost and the benefits associated with the development of a cybersecurity program in a business, it is clear that its not cheap to develop, but it well worth it in the long run. The added security and protection a cybersecurity program would provide is more than cost associated. Especially given the amount a business would lose if it suffered an attack.
