The United States, to some people’s surprise, is not the most cyber-secure country in the world. It’s France however the two are very similar. When it comes to percentages they are closer than you might think. In the U.S mobile phone infections are 7.68 percent, France is just 4.72. In turn toward France, the computer infection rates are 16.2 percent, but the U.S is 10.3 percent. The difference is that the U.S could be doing more to fight cybercrime. The disproportionate attacks originating from the inside are the only thing keeping it from the top spot. France is an active member of the international cybersecurity community, but the U.S has one of the world’s strongest legal frameworks when it comes to security. Delivering some of the best technical know-how for preventing, investigating, and prosecuting cybercrime. Keeping the U.S as the second country on the list. France makes up for its deficiencies with a legal and robust national organization, which makes it well equipped to bring numbers down. However, even with France being at the top of the list, technical infrastructure as it pertains to cybersecurity can always be improved. Cyberspace is constantly evolving along with its threats, so a list in a way is almost pointless. Making decisions as an individual in your own daily life, secure big steps in for your own digital footprint. Security is something that everyone needs and should want to be aware of. Take the time to make good cyber habits now so it doesn’t affect you later. Trust me. Speaking of mobile phones, I’ve had mine hacked twice while pursuing my cyber career. It’s part of the reason I want to pursue cybersecurity so passionately. I want to make sure it doesn’t happen to anyone else.
