- For the people reading this information on how much I have grown in spanish, I just want the reader to know that anything is possible with practice and consistency. It may be very challenging in the beginning but just keep working hard. One day you might be in a situation to where the person that needs help only knows spanish, and you can help that person out just from practicing speaking spanish!
Exploring Culture
- As I went on into the semester learning spanish, In the family section this is where I learned that the spanish culture is different from ours…

- In this specific section, I learned that the spanish culture in the family category is treated differently. The spanish culture usually has a bigger family, and they are very close. When there is a birthday, everyone in the family usually comes, and it is spread with love and lots of food! From a personal experience the American culture is all about moving fast and moving out when you are eighteen years of age. There are a lot of differences between the Spanish culture and the American culture!
Engaging in Communities
- The value of, and importance of, engaging in your immediate community and the global community is very important! You want to know what is going on in different cultures other than your own. It can benefit you for when you travel, or visit other families!
- My TalkAbroad meeting helped me out and benefited me even more than I expected. Going into the meeting I did not expect to learn as much as I did just by having a conversation with another person. I seen that the person that knew spanish, she was very patient with me and understanding! Usually in the American culture, people are fast pace, and are not as patient.
- After the TalkAbroad meeting, I got better at starting a conversation in the Spanish language and as well as continuing a conversation. I feel like if you can start a conversation with asking a question, that is how you get a person engaged and that is very important. Continuing and having the other persons attention the whole time is very important as well.
When I payed attention to the content that was being presented to me, It really gave me more knowledge about how to say foods in spanish. In the beginning of the class I could not say as many foods in spanish. After this section of the class was taught to me, I was more fluent with saying my fruits, vegetable, dairies, and meats in the spanish language. As you can see, these are the results after the foods spanish section was taught to me. I did very well scoring a 9 out of 10 on foods in spanish. I learned how to say many different vegetables in spanish, and as well as what people like to eat. This subject was a lot of fun to learn about! I learned a lot more about the spanish culture than I expected! This assignment taught me how spanish families eat a lot more different dishes than the American culture. Another reason why I chose to add this to my list of assignments is because I had trouble with talking about cultured family foods, now I can see that I am stronger with this conversation in this topic!
