My last 100 hours at the Garden of Eden Health Center have been bittersweet. I have learned a lot of helpful tools that will take me to the next steps in my career. While being here I have connected with a multitude of people who I can take lessons and information from that will guide me to greatness. Within the organization I have talked to patients daily. Being at the front desk I have had to schedule patients, answer the phone, and listen to their voicemails with request that they have. As an intern I have shadow the Administrative Lead learning what she does for the facility and how much she has to take on being the only one doing almost everything for the Garden of Eden. To go into details things that I have learned from her are coding. When learning how to do coding she taught me how to input codes so that insurance could be billed and see how the patient would have left to pay from their appointment. Another thing I have learned from her is how to do in service. Almost every Wednesday while I was there we had an in-service. She taught me how to schedule the in-services, what questions to ask while we are receiving the in-service, and what information to take away from the presentation that we received. One of my goals when the course first started was to be able to talk to patients confidently. As I have grown here I have become very comfortable with talking to the patients in house and over the phone. I am very pleased to say that I have achieved my goals at this practice and can’t wait to see what the future holds for my career.
