Yes, people treasure their physical property more than their personal data in the online space. I believe people do this because their personal data in the online space is not physical, or something they can touch. I think it does not seem as real or as important when compared to their physical property. Especially because many people do not really understand the importance of protecting their information online. Some people also do not know how to correctly protect their information and would rather pay to protect it than learn how to. I think one-way people would be more likely to be protective over their cyber privacy is if there was a company that could watch over it and protects it. The company would alert their costumers if anything were to happen with any of their personal data. I think people would like this because as I stated previously, most do not really understand anything about cybersecurity, so they would rather pay to protect their information than deal with it themselves. I like to think of it as a car. When someone’s car breaks down what do they do, they take it to an autobody shop. If the proper research was done, they could possibly fix their own car instead of paying for someone else to do it. However, people take their cars to professionals because they are professionals, and they know exactly what they are doing. They do not want to risk the possibility of doing even more damage to their car or breaking something else in the process of fixing the original problem.
