A few weeks ago, we had to write a free write about how the presidential election of 2016 was manipulated by Russian hackers. They bought ad space on Twitter and Facebook in order to influence voter’s opinions. This week, I will be talking about the presidential election of 2016 again.

During the presidential election of 2016, the democratic party was hacked in to. The democratic party was sent phishing emails through a fake Gmail account. Those emails contained a link that led to people in the democratic party believing they had to change their email passwords. The hackers were able to login to many emails from people that were part of the Clinton campaign because of the phishing emails. They had an open door to plenty of emails that had sensitive information about Clinton’s campaign for president in 2016. Many of the emails were released by the hackers which of course led to another way the presidential election of 2016 was manipulated.

I would have suggested the victims of the phishing emails have carefully read their emails and do not click on any link that could be fake. They could have found a way to verify the email that the link is being sent from. Today we live in a world where hundreds of people are being taken advantage of every day, so we should all be careful and mindful of what is being sent to us. Everyone likes to say, “don’t trust everything on the internet,” but not everyone practices that belief.
