I’d like to start off by saying that I didn’t know the cyber security industry had so many different roles. I’ve only had little knowledge of cybersecurity until recently, and when I hear the word “cybersecurity” all I think of is one person or a group of people protecting sensitive or confidential data. I never knew about all the other positions so that article alone really surprised me. Based upon what I read a Bachelors degree or higher in computer science or technology is usually required dependent on whether the role is for management or not.
The two roles that caught my eye were Application security administrator and Cyber security policy specialist.
Application security administrator:
Soft Skills needed: Communication, critical thinking, being able to be calm under stress
Hard skills needed: Identity management, risk management, vulnerability assess
What surprised me about this role is that I never knew this specific role even existed.
Cybersecurity Insurance Policy Specialist:
Skills needed: Attention to detail, Adaptability, desire to learn, insight
What surprised me about this role is that this is basically a sales role.
