If I was the CISO for a publicly traded company, some protections that I would implement to ensure the availability of my protections would the implementation of the NIST Framework and Firewalls. I would implement these both because the NIST Framework provides a basis of cyber security as a protection for the company’s security systems by its Identification, Protection, Detection, Response, and Recover. Whereas the Firewalls would be implemented to monitor network traffic, limit virus attacks, prevent malicious traffic, filter content, and lastly safeguard against phishing attacks. These Firewalls would also monitor and ensure the availability of the security systems. Having this security system protections implemented would ensure the availability of the system for our company as it is extremely important as a CISO for a publicly traded company.
