In 2012, I traveled to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico with my family. I took French in high school so I was unable to really communicate with any of the locals using Spanish. However, I was able to learn a little bit about the culture, such as the fashion when I went shopping or how the foods are different. I am taking a spontaneous trip to Puerto Rico this summer so hopefully I will be able to utilize the Spanish I have learned there.
