At the beginning of the Covid outbreak in the United States, the NBA was forced to suspend all basketball operations during the middle of the season due to the virus reaching some of the players. At first, there was no indication that the league would return anytime soon until the NBA came up with a strategy. After a couple months of no basketball the NBA came up with the Disney bubble and this took the media by storm as it wasn’t known how the league would be able to operate and keep the same atmosphere without any fans present. They managed to solve that problem as well by adding virtual fan attendance at games. The bubble was very good for the league as it received a lot of positive social media engagement due to fans enjoying the whole concept and being able to see how some athletes were able to perform better due to no actual fans being present and limited travelling. To me this was a perfect response to the crisis because they were able to resume all operations without putting anyone’s health at risk.
