I have always been fascinated by the major improvements of technology. In my family, I have always been the person to come to when a family member is struggling with their technology. I have always found it easy to navigate and research how to do things regarding technology. I am constantly wanting to learn more about technology, especially cybersecurity technology. My older sister majored in cyber security and she showed me some of the things she has to work with. I was also impressed with how fast she was offered a job. This made me look deeper into the field and contributed to my decision-making of my major. I was very interested in this specific field because it is challenging yet exciting. There is such a wide variety of cybersecurity technology which is very beneficial. I have recently been super invested in cybersecurity technology and how important it is to limit what information you distribute on the internet and who you are distributing it to. In high school, I did several projects regarding phishing and how dangerous it is. I was very surprised at how easy it is for your information to get stolen online. I want to be able to prevent cybercrimes in the near future. Several years ago my Instagram account was hacked and I had to create a new account and find all of my friends online again. I was not happy and wanted to prevent this from reoccurring. After this happened I have been much more private online and stopped sharing personal information with people on the internet. I want to be able to impact people’s lives by preventing cybercrimes from occurring. I also was to spread awareness of the importance of keeping your information private online. It is amazing what hackers can do to steal your personal information. I think I will be very successful in the future because of my passion for cybersecurity technology.
