The NICE Workforce Framework is the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education. The NICE framework is a resource used to help workers expand their cybersecurity workforce. In the future, I would like to become a cyber security analyst. I think the most important categories to focus on for this career are collect and operate, protect and defend, and operate and maintain. Collecting and operating is essential to cybersecurity analysts because analysts are required to understand how to analyze data and do research. For example, an analyst might be collecting information and discover that there is actually a potential threat that others were unaware of. It is important that when collecting data, employees know how to detect threats. Some cyber operations that could be used in this career include protecting softwares and systems or gathering information on a criminal. The second category that would suit a cybersecurity analyst is protect and defend. This is very similar to collecting and operating because to be able to protect and defend, you first must analyze the data. The last category that analysts should focus on is operate and maintain. It is important that while solving a solution, you must keep it that way. Meaning create a solution that can prevent threats and problems from happening again in the future. Some focuses that are less important are to oversee and govern. While this can be important in the cybersecurity field, It is not a key focus to analysts. This focuses on leadership and management. To oversee and govern could be important to a transformational cybersecurity leader, an IT cybersecurity specialist, or a security supervisor. Analysts focus more on gathering information and detecting types of threats.
