I would rank hacking for money first because our world revolves around money and lots of people will do anything for financial gain so this one makes the most sense to me. The second ranked is political motivations because people in America are obsessed with power and fame. There are some cases where politicians may be motivated to hack someone as a form of revenge on an opposing political party. The third ranked motive is revenge. I think this can be used in many forms of online communications. Cyberbullying is a common form of revenge especially in today’s society. The fourth ranked motivation that makes sense to me is that there could be multiple reasons including revenge, financial gain, or power. This makes sense because if there are multiple things that a person has done and you are not financially stable then this may lead to hacking. Entertainment is ranked fifth because I feel that there has to be a reason for someone to hack. This one doesn’t really make much sense to me but I can see how there may be people in the world who get a thrill to hack people. The sixth ranked is boredom. This just does not make sense to me because what people get bored and decide hacking is a good idea to cure boredom? The last ranked is recognition. Who wants to be recognized as a bad person? Why would you want to be known as a hacker?
