Three Real and Three Fake Websites

Websites are all designed with an intended purpose. Some of these uses are to entertain, inform, sell a product, and the list goes on and on. One of the reasons that some websites are created are for malicious purposes, such as fooling the viewer into believing they are on a legitimate website when they are in fact on a fake one. These fake websites can have a multitude of goals, such as infecting a system with viruses or stealing data like credit card information. It is important to know the difference between a real and fake website, especially for businesses. One way we can practice this is by setting up three real and three fake websites and asking participants to tell the differences between them.

Creating the real and fake websites would be relatively easy. There are many ways to create a new website, and the same goes for making a fake website. Making a set of three real and three fake websites would not be too difficult, and making more than three of each isn’t hard either. This means that this would be practical for many different tests to be performed. The ease of this test is one of its strong points, a small group of people can make basic websites rather quickly.

The experiment would include having people try to separate the real websites from those that are fake. They would have to find and recognize the signs that a site is illegitimate and then decide not to trust or use those sites. This training could help them detect other fake websites in their normal lives and in the workplace, increasing their cyber awareness and decreasing the chance that a fake website will steal their data or otherwise harm them or their company. This experiment could prove very useful for businesses, more cyber aware workers is always a great thing, as well as training for students in public schools. If people can be made more aware of the dangers posed by fake websites and how to find them, the threat of these websites can be massively reduced.

Overall, I believe that making a set of three real and three fake websites for training purposes would be a great project. It can help people better understand the signs of a fake website and reduce cases of cyber crime. This training should be implemented not only for people in school or businesses, but also could help the elderly. They do not understand technology as well as the younger generation, so they tend to be preyed upon more often. Teaching them could help save them from cybercrimes that would have otherwise harmed them, and the use of three real and three fake websites is a fantastic way to get those lessons to them and to many others who don’t understand cybersecurity as well as cybersecurity professionals do.
