{"id":152,"date":"2021-09-17T02:34:45","date_gmt":"2021-09-17T02:34:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/cyberimpact1\/?page_id=152"},"modified":"2024-11-24T01:25:07","modified_gmt":"2024-11-24T01:25:07","slug":"crjs-405","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/ethan-heeter\/crjs-405\/","title":{"rendered":"CRJS 404"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center\">Law and Digital Forensics<\/h1>\n<p>Students will learn about, evaluate, and apply material relating the following topics and relevant laws and principles:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Cybercrime and how it differs from crime before there was an Internet and everything we do is based on computer technologies;<\/li>\n<li>Basics of computer forensic investigations;<\/li>\n<li>Laws regulating access to electronic evidence;<\/li>\n<li>Searches and seizures of computers and electronic evidence;<\/li>\n<li>Relevant laws relating to specific crimes involving the digital world;<\/li>\n<li>Activities of scam artists and others who lurk in the computer-networking environment;<\/li>\n<li>Cyberterrorism: what it is and isn\u2019t;<\/li>\n<li>Using tools to find electronic evidence;<\/li>\n<li>Basics of what investigators should do at an incident scene;<\/li>\n<li>Conducting corporate investigations;<\/li>\n<li>Basics of email, network and mobile device forensics;<\/li>\n<li>Pretrial and courtroom experiences of a computer forensics investigator.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h1>Course Material<\/h1>\n\n\n<p>In this discussion board artifact below, I was tasked with describing a cybercrime that occurred somewhere in the United States. I am quite proud of this accomplishment as it took a great deal of studying prior to the midterm in order to achieve this feat.
