Task 6 Draft

For my evaluation, I will be using an interview and observation as my method of collecting data. I will be conducting my interview with the Clubhouse Director at Denbigh House. My two main questions for the evaluation are: how effectively does the Denbigh House’s goals align with addressing the needs of its target population and how effectively does the Denbigh House track the effectiveness of its program and ensure sustainability? For my observation, I will be looking at the overall environment of the Denbigh House when I am there to conduct my interview.

The questions for my interview will be:

1. Related to goals aligning with the needs of the target population

Can you describe the primary goals of the Denbigh House?

How are these goals helping the needs of people with traumatic brain injury (TBI)?

In your opinion, how effective is the clubhouse program in implementing these goals?

How do you determine the needs of those with traumatic brain injury (TBI)? And how does the program prioritize the most pressing needs?

Has there ever been a time when you needed to adapt your goals to better align with the needs of your target population?

How do you collect feedback from previous clients? And what feedback have you received from previous clients?

2. Related to the effectiveness and sustainability

What strategies are in place to ensure the effectiveness of the clubhouse program?

Can you give me an example that demonstrates the program’s effectiveness?

How frequently are assessments conducted to determine the effectiveness of the Denbigh House?

How does the Denbigh House ensure the long-term sustainability of the program?

Can you describe the successes and challenges of maintaining the sustainability of the program?

What improvements, if any, can be made to ensure the sustainability of the Denbigh House?

Are there any measures in place to ensure that the program stays relevant and effective in addressing the needs of the target population?

Does the Denbigh House engage with partners or collaborators to support the program? And if so, how does that partnership ensure sustainability?

Responses to Classmates’ Protocols

Hi Makayla,

I am also doing an interview for my protocol and using observation as well. I think it’s great you are able to interview participants of the program and that you got the consent to do so. The questions that you are asking for your interview are good although I would include in your final draft how they relate to your two main questions. I would say that your questions are open-ended which is will be good for the interview. Also, I think it’s a good idea to have an equal number of questions for both interviews as it shows that you’re giving both interviews equal treatment which will be beneficial for your evaluation. With your interviews, I would recommend interviewing an equal number of staff members and participants to continue making sure that both interviews are given equal treatment.

Hi Nayley,

I will also be using an interview and observation as my method of collecting data. I do think your method of collecting data, as all three will be helpful in answering your two main questions that you have for your program. It’s good to be interviewing both the employees and clients. I would recommend interviewing the same number of employees and clients, that way both parties are given equal treatment in your evaluation. I think that you have good interview questions and survey questions, although I would add a few more questions to both that way you will have all the information that you need. I would recommend at least five questions for both the interview and the survey. For your final draft, I would recommend showing which questions answer your two research questions.

Interview questions to staff members (if able):

What is your role at the Denbigh House?

How do you ensure that you are effectively helping your clients?

What do you like most about the Denbigh House?

In what areas, do you think the Denbigh House can improve?
