Comparing Fake websites to real websites. Most of the time, fake website have URL’s that mimic or look almost identical to legitimate ones but with very slight variations to it. Another way to spot very fake websites is that if the website is offering something to buy, if it’s a website you haven’t heard of before, but you are interested in it because almost everything is at a significant discount, it is almost definitely fake. Many fake websites put on huge “limited time” sales compared to regular prices in hopes to draw people in and make them forget about their other suspicions because it’s so cheap. Some of these other suspicions include poor quality websites, such as low-resolution pictures, grammar problems or misspellings, or inconsistent formatting, all of which would never be in a professional real website representing a company. Another thing to look out for is if a website provides any contact information, authors, and many payment options because most of the time, fake websites won’t include any of them to decrease the possibility of the actual creator of the fake website getting caught. If a website looks fake and unprofessional, it most likely is, a real company would take a lot of time and effort into their website because they want to keep customers as their website is almost a first impression for many of them, fake websites only care about making money fast for a short period of time.
